The town of Kom Ombo is about 28 miles north of Aswan. There a temple was built by Ptolemy VI Philometor in the early second century BC. The Temple of Kom Ombo is really two temples: the Temple to Sobek and a Temple of Haroeris. The northern side is dedicated to Haroeris. He was the falcon headed sky god. The other side was dedicated to Sobek who was a crocodile headed god.
