M&M Activity
Hold up a bag of M&M's. Tell students to guess how many they will find of each of the following colors:
blue
green
yellow
brown
orange
red
Each student will make a bar graph depicting these guesses into a bar graph. If computers are available use Create a Graph http://nces.ed.gov/nceskids/Graphing/ .
Next open the bag and count the exact number of M&Ms in each color. You may determine which student had the closest guess by subtracting each guess by the actual number of that color in the bag. Add the differences. The smallest number wins.
