Students became
actively engaged in this fun bug activity as they learned about
dominant and recessive genes. First students were given two
chromosomes. Students had to evaluate the chromosomes to determine
if the bug they would build would receive the dominant or recessive
trait for five different genes. Next students created their edible
bugs based on the following traits: the number of legs, number of
body segments, eye and nose color, and antennae.
Yum! After creating
these wonderful creatures students were able to eat their work.
