automated machine: a machine that requires little or no human effort to complete a task

bulletin board system:  a computer that is running software that allows users to leave messages and access information of general interest

capacity:  the amount of information (in bytes) that can be stored on a disk drive; "the capacity of a hard disk drive is usually expressed in megabytes"

CD-ROM:  a compact disk that is used with a computer (rather than with an audio system); a large amount of digital information can be stored and accessed but it cannot be altered by the user

central processing unit:  the part of a computer (a microprocessor chip) that does most of the data processing; the CPU and the memory form the central part of a computer to which the peripherals are attached
