Read a historical fiction book

-- Genre discussion: General Fiction and Historical Fiction.  Students will choose a historical fiction book to read and discuss.

-- Students will discuss the historical fiction book they have completed during book talks.  Students will write a basic review of the book they read.

-- Thanksgiving story and word puzzle.  Continue book talks.

 HAPPY NEW YEAR

--Welcome Back to School.  The Big 6 will be our focus of study for the next few weeks. We will work on each step of the process beginning with "Step #1:  Task Definition."  Websites that might prove useful can be found here.

--  "Step #2: Information Seeking Strategies" and "Step #3:  Location and Access"

-- "Step #4:  Use of Information" Emphasizes reading for information and note taking.  "Step #5 Synthesis"  Organizing and presenting information.  "Step #6: Evaluation"  How do I know I've done a good job?

-- Big6 Review --write out the meanings of the topics and what you must do to accomplish the task.

-- Discuss Black History Month. Read at least one book about Civil Rights and/or Black history.
