The “After School Book Club” is an enrichment program for the third grade students who are advanced in the reading area according to T-CAP test data.  Chapter books are used as a center of learning with exciting activities integrating technology (COWS and Smartboard), the arts, higher level thinking skills, and a variety of other strategies to make the story come to life.   The instruction will help to maintain and increase the reading scores of the higher level students as indicated in Goal 2 ( All Mountain City Elementary School Subgroups will achieve a positive scoring gain in Reading/ Language Arts with a goal of 89% proficiency or better by May 2009) of the school improvement plan.
