Easter Seals

Each Spring the kindergarten students at Mountain City Elementary raise money for Easter Seals. Prior to the fund raiser teachers educate students about physical disabilities that others may have. Students are taught to focus on abilities people have instead of the disability.

Many volunteers help teachers count the number of hops in an event called Hop-n-ing. The students dress with bunny ears and furry tails. They hop until they are too tired to hop again. Last Spring our school was listed in the top ten money raisers in Tennessee.
The Mountain City Radio Station gave a live broadcast of the Hop-n-ing event. This helped people in our community become more aware of what Easter Seals is all about.

Easter Seals provides a wide variety of services that go a long way in making a better life for both children with physical disabilities and their families. Services include financial assistance, training, camps and respite care, independence and life skills.
