Snake Mountain is the highest point in Johnson County at an elevation of 5574 feet above sea level.

Roan Creek enters Johnson County near Trade. It flows towards Mountain City. Then makes a turn down Neva Valley. It empties into Watauga Lake at the southwestern end of the county.
