Accelerated
Reading Program

Our first graders use the Accelerated Reading Program to encourage students to read more./ A student selects and reads a book within his reading range. Then students earn points by taking a multiple choice test over the book. The student takes a five-, ten-, or twenty-question Accelerated Reader quiz. The computer adds the quiz result to its database and generates a report for the student and teacher.

Each book for which there is an Accelerated Reader quiz has a point value based on its readability level and length. After a student takes a quiz, he receives points based on the book's point value and how well he did on the quiz.

Students meeting their goals during the 1st semester are rewarded with a movie and popcorn. Students meeting their goals during the 2nd semester are rewarded with a fieldtrip
