November 12-16 will
be the 86th annual observance of American Education Week. This
celebration began when the National Education Association became upset
that 25 percent of the country's World War I draftees were illiterate
and 29 percent were physically unfit. As a resolution to this problem an
educational week would be observed to inform "the public of the
accomplishments and needs of the public schools and secure the
cooperation and support of the public in meeting those needs."
We are including
Family Engagement activities this week. Family Engagement activities are
an important part of our school's success. An activity may be planned in
each classroom during the week. Your child's teacher will be
sending additional information soon.
