Fit Five is a schoolwide program that provides five additional minutes of physical activity each day for the staff and students. The program is implemented at the beginning of each day and consist of various body movements that require energy expenditure above the normal physiological requirements of a typical school day.

An example of Fit Five includes:

  • Warm up:  stretches - leg and arms (15-20 seconds)
  • Step in place (approximately 30 seconds)
  • Arm circles
  • Arm reach (2 sets)
    up, straight, downward, feet
  • Twist body at waist (alternate right and left)
  • Lift knees (alternate)
  • Hop in place
  • Arm pushups (up, in front, side)
  • Squats (touch the floor/stand)
  • Toe touches (alternate right and left)
  • Leg lift twists (2 sets)
  • Repeat Arm reach (2 sets)
  • Repeat Leg lift (2 sets)
  • Cool Down - step in place, stretch, deep breathing
