Red Ribbon Week

 

The Red Ribbon campaign began when drug traffickers in Mexico City murdered Kiki Camarena, a DEA agent, in 1985. Today displaying Red Ribbons is a way for students to unite and take a visible stand against drugs. Mountain City Elementary students show their intolerance for drug use in a number of activities which are fun for the students including the following:

We celebrated Red Ribbon Week the week of October 24-28. The mission of the Red Ribbon Campaign is to present a unified and visible commitment toward the creation of a Drug-Free America. Activities are listed below.

Oct. 24 (Monday)-Joke B4 U Smoke (Wear silly mismatched clothes)

Oct. 25 (Tuesday)- Reflect Off Drugs (Wear neon clothes)

Oct. 26 (Wednesday)-Turn Your Back On Drugs (Wear shirt backwards)

Oct. 27 (Thursday)- Sock It To Drugs (Wear crazy socks)

Oct. 28 (Friday)-Be Red Hot & Drug Not (Wear red)

Mountain City Elementary kicked off Red Ribbon Week with a puppet show presented by the Johnson County High School Drama Department.
