The week of TCAP
and the week after TCAP our school will begin a contest for grades K-6.
Our goal is to motivate students to prepare for TCAP, have good
attendance, and good behavior. Each day a student attends school all
day, turns in all work on time and has good behavior, they earn points
for the TCAP celebration.
2010-2011
T C A P Celebration
- The week before and during TCAP (April 5-18) EACH student can earn points by attending school all day, showing good behavior and putting forth good effort.
- Goal: To encourage attendance before and during TCAP testing, good behavior, focus on good test scores.
- Reward: EACH student may earn 1, 2, or 3 hours of celebration time outside. Students will earn points on an individual basis.
- Celebration includes: free play on the playground, 6 inflatable activities: Sheer Face- a 30 feet tall climbing wall, Wrecking Ball , a 34 feet tall Obstacle Course, Extreme Challenge to race your friends, 25 feet tall Giant Slide, and Jurassic Adventure!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- When? Celebration will take place on Thursday, May 10, 8:30-11:30 grades 4-6, 11:30-2:30 Kindergarten, 1st-3rd grade. 11:30-12:30 Head Start/Pre-K (.Please try to get a few parent volunteers to help monitor.)
- Teachers will need to keep score on a DAILY basis. (Mark scores during the last 5 minutes of the school day, just before the bell rings to dismiss.)
- Total points earned determine the number of hours EACH student may celebrate outside. Students may earn 2 points each day, one for attendance all day and one for good behavior and effort in class. Each student may earn a total of twenty (20) points during the two week period. Each student that earns 17-20 points may enjoy the outside activities for 3 hours. Students earning from 14 to 16 points may stay outside for only 2 hours. Those students earning 9 to 13 points stay out side for 1 hour only. If a student earns less than 9 points, no outside time is earned!
- Grade levels/teachers will need to rotate in/out with students who so not earn the entire 3 hours. A schedule has been arranged so that each teacher will have I hour inside watching students, 1 hour helping monitor the outside events, and 1 hour of planning.
- Students with poor attendance, bad behavior/little effort honestly do not deserve this special treat outside. Students will work on an individual basis and take responsibility for their actions.
- Teachers will need to explain this contest to their class the Monday before it starts.
