Mission Statement 2007-2008

The mission of Mountain City Elementary School is to provide a cooperative learning environment in which students can achieve adequate yearly progress in the foundational skills (language arts, reading, and math).

School Improvement Goals

  1. MCE will achieve a positive scoring gain will achieve a positive scoring gain on the state writing assessment by February 2008.

  2. All MCE subgroups will achieve a positive scoring gain in Reading/Language Arts, with a goal of 89% proficiency or better in Reading/Language Arts by May 2008.

  3. All MCE targeted subgroups will meet or exceed 86% proficiency in math by May 2008.

  4. All MCE targeted subgroups will achieve positive growth in science achievement by May 2008.

Stampede Information

MCE has collected over $17,000.00 from pledges and donations made to our students. We thank our students, parents, friends, and staff for their tremendous support. The top school wide winner is Josh Herman form Mrs. Fletcher's second grade class. The top five winners are Celena Allen, Channie Allen, Cheyenne Campbell, Brianna Anderson, and Makayla Fritts.

2nd Grade - Philip Dugger
3rd Grade - Courtney Wilson
4th Grade - Logan Sargent

Hailey Jones, a fifth grade student, won the T-shirt design contest.

Report Card Celebration

Students celebrated our good report card grades by holding an assembly in the gym. Each grade level performed a writing cheer before the entire student body and school staff. The cheers were judged and the winners were second grade form K-3rd level and sixth grade for 4th-6th level.

Grants

Teachers at our school wrote and received $4,392.89 in mini grants from Hanesbrands. MCE also received a grant from Food Lion in the amount of $2,500.00. We appreciate their monetary support. Thank You!
