TCAP Proctors Needed

     The TCAP Test will be administered to students in first through sixth grades during the state testing time period of April 16-27, 2007.  We need volunteers to proctor in the testing classrooms during this period.  If you can come and help on any day during the testing period please contact your child’s teacher or call the school at 727-2621.

 Inclement Weather Call-in System

     Parents may obtain information about school schedule changes by dialing any of the following numbers:  (1) 727-2612, (2) 727-2711, (3) 727-2157 or (4) 727-2158.  After dialing, select option “1”, listen to the message and then hang up.

 MCE Cafeteria Awards

     “Healthy Eating Awards” go to  Cody Reece in Mrs. Wilson’s second grade class and Maddie Icenhour in Mrs. Icenhour’s  kindergarten class.

     Congratulations to both of these students, for making wise and healthy eating choices.

 Writers of the Week

     The following students have been recognized as “Writer of the Week”:

Krista Summerow, Nicholas Whitener, Aisia Robbins and David Ross.  Congratulations for being chosen as outstanding writers.

Ronald McDonald House

     Students raised $911.31 for the Ronald McDonald House.  This was a school-wide project with all of the raised funds going to the Ronald McDonald House.  The top fundraiser was Ashley Wright.  This is the third year in a row Ashley has been the top fundraiser.  Narisela  Mejia came in second by bringing in $40.00.  Third place went to Patrick Edwards for bringing in $37.00.

     Mrs. Pennington’s third grade class received a prize for raising the most money.  Thank you to all the students and parents who contributed to this worthy cause.

 PTO/Science Fair

     On Tuesday, March 20th , we will hold our monthly PTO meeting at 6:30 in the gym.  Immediately after the meeting, students will display their science projects in the cafeteria.  Prizes will be awarded for classroom, grade level and school-wide winners. 

Registration for Pre-School/Head Start/Kindergarten

     Mountain City Elementary will  hold registration on Thursday, March 22nd.  Students whose last names begin with

A-L should register from 8:30 to 10:30.  Students whose last names begin with M-Z should register from 1:00 to 3:00.

     Parent need to bring the child’s birth certificate (certified copy), child’s social security card, record of recent physical and up-to-date immunization record.  Anyone registering a child for Head Start should bring proof of income.

 Daylight Savings Time begins Sunday, March 11th.  Set your clock ahead!
