Mission Statement

2005-06

The mission of Mountain City Elementary is to provide a cooperative learning environment in which students can achieve adequate yearly progress in the foundational skills (language arts, reading, math).

School Improvement Goals

  1. MCE will achieve a positive scoring gain on the state writing assessment by February 2006.
  2. All sub-groups at MCE will meet or exceed 83% proficiency in language arts by May 2006.
  3. All sub-groups at MCE will meet or exceed 79.3% proficiency in math by May 2006.
  4. MCE will achieve a three-year average 49 NCE by May 2006.

Adequate Yearly Progress

We are very proud to announce that MCE made AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) and is in good standing with the state and federal guidelines. This is based on last year’s TCAP Test scores. We are proud of our students and staff.

Fall Pictures

Fall pictures were taken on August 19th. Photographers will visit our school again for make-up pictures on Wednesday, October 26th.

Tutoring

Tutoring is offered in first, second, third and fifth grades. If you need more information concerning tutoring, call 727-2621.

MCE Hosts Open House

Our school hosted open house for all parents and family members on Thursday, August 4th. Many people attended to meet the faculty and staff, learn about school policies, and learn about classroom procedures.

New Pre-K Class

The new pre-k class will start in October. Children who turn four on or before September 30, 2005, are eligible. Class size is limited. For more information contact Lori Murray at 727-2640.

PTO Meeting

The first PTO meeting of the school year will be on Tuesday, September 20, at 6:30 in the gym. Fourth, fifth, and sixth graders will be performing. Please plan to attend.

Dr. Bridgette Hackett has returned to the position of assistant principal. We are glad to see her back.
