Mountain City Elementary Mission Statement 2006-07The mission of Mountain City Elementary is to provide a cooperative learning environment in which students can achieve adequate yearly progress in the foundational skills (language arts, reading, math). School Improvement Goals 1. MCE will achieve a positive scoring gain on the state writing assessment by February 2007.2. All MCE subgroups will achieve a positive scoring gain in Reading/Language Arts, with a goal of 86% proficiency or better in Reading/Language Arts by May 2007.3. All MCE targeted subgroups will meet or exceed 86% proficiency in Math by May 2007.4. All MCE targeted subgroups will achieve positive growth in science achievement by May 2007.MCE Cafeteria Awards Tennessee students have noticed a change in their lunch menus due to the nationwide trend to promote healthy eating. Students at MCE are encouraged daily to make healthy eating choices. Twice a month our cafeteria staff will choose students to receive a “Healthy Eating Award”. The awards for the past month go to Blake Tester and Austin Houser. Congratulations on eating healthy! Adequately Yearly Progress We are proud to announce that MCE made AYP (Adequate Yearly Progress) and is in good standing with the state and federal guidelines. This is based on last year’s TCAP Test scores. We are proud of our students and staff. Writers of the Week Lyndsey Osborne and Kassi Foley have been chosen as “Writers of the Week”. Congratulations to our wonderful writers. McTeacher’s Night at McDonald’s Instead of our October 17th PTO meeting our staff will be working at McDonald’s from 5:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. Our school will receive 30% of the profits taken in during this time span. Please support our school by doing business with McDonald’ between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 17th. |
Stampede Information MCE has collected $15,447.27 from pledges made to our students. We thank our students, parents, friends and staff for the tremendous financial support. The top school wide winner is Josh Herman from Mrs. Mullen’s first grade class. The top five winners are Channie Allen, Makayla Fritts, Froy Romo, Celena Allen, and Cheyenne Campbell. The top grade level winners are PreK/Head Start – Blaine Scott Kindergarten – Kaitlin Lowe 1st grade – Philip Dugger 2nd grade – Cortney Wilson 3rd grade – Briana Anderson 4th grade – Dillon Anderson 5th grade – Brittany May 6th grade – Chris Poteet Rachel Reece, a sixth grade student, won the T-shirt design contest. Brian Lay won $50.00, Matthew Reece won $25.00 and Jordan Grubb won a $25.00 gift card from Wal-Mart. The top money raising classes were Mrs. Mullen’s from the PreK/Head Start-2nd grade division and Mrs. Potter’s from the 3rd-6th grade division. Congratulations to all of our winners!
