Activity 12.1 Day 1 at MLP - Opening to Unit on The Giver http://www.teachers-connect.net/TNT/mlp0043.htm contains a list of questions, survey, that the class will vote whether they agree or disagree. This is great source for a discussion.
I would recommend a recorder tally the votes for each question, and the survey be administered again at the end of the book. Compare the count. Did the results change? Why?
