Contractions with PRONOUNS

A contraction is a word that is made when two or more individual words are combined into a new word. An apostrophe is used to show where some of the letters have been left out.

Rule 1 for Contractions  Verbs plus not can be shortened into contractions.

 

Rule 2 for Contractions  Nouns and pronouns plus one of the following verbs may be shortened to form contractions:

will

I will I'll
he will he'll
they will they'll
Tucker will Tucker'll

would or had

I would OR I had I'd
he would  OR he had he'd
you would OR you had you'd
they would OR they had they'd
Chester would OR Chester had Chester'd

forms of be:  is, are, was, were, has, or have

I am I'm
who is OR who has who's
she is OR she was she's
it is OR it was it's
we were we're
they are they're
you have you've
they have they've
paper is paper's
