Chapter 6 Activities

  1. Discuss the three mile walk to school.
  2. Read the following lines from Sarah, Plain and Tall. Each line speaks of a specific type of bird or a phrase about birds.

" I watched a marshhawk wheel down behind the barn."   p. 18

"The gulls fly high and drop the shells on the rocks below."  p. 20

"At dusk Sarah cut Caleb's hair on the front steps, gathering his curls and scattering them on the fence and ground...

Bird Craft Project

We made bird nest from straw. We glued a few dried flowers to the nest since Sarah loved them so. Next the birds were made by gluing pom-poms and feathers together. We added a beak from Fun Foam and wiggly eyes.
