Shawnee Burial Customs

In Weasel Nathan mentioned that the Shawnee buried their dead. This was completed after a ceremony of songs, dances, and speeches. The grave was dug four feet deep in a east-west direction. The inside of the grave was lined with stone or wood. The body was wrapped in skin or covered with bark. Most graves were dug near the home of the person being buried.
