PREDICTIONS
__1. My fingers twitched at the trigger as I thought of Ezra, his wife and unborn baby, and of Pa, caught in Weasel's trap. Trembling, I tore my eyes from Weasel's gaze and ran out the door. A. I saw Pa's face darken and Ezra's twist up up in that way that made him look so fearsome.
__2. I could hear the faint, continuous murmur of the Ohio River. Job picked up the scent of the water, pricked up his ears, and moved forward. B. I'd slip away, find Weasel's cabin, sneak up on him, and kill him.
__3. I got to the part in my story about finding Miz Tizz and the chickens slaughtered. C. A hand shout out, grabbed my leg, and held on. I nearly fell, but recovering, I stomped down hard on the arm with my other foot and ran blindly toward where I had seen Job tied.
__4. We passed several days in the we-gi-wa, for me to rest and for Pa to gather his strength for the trip home. D. After a drink and a rest, I set Job on a path slightly up and away from the snags and rock of the river bank.
__5. Over and over again, the scene passed through my mind. I could feel myself squeezing the trigger. You think I can't kill you, Weasel, but you'll see, I thought. You'll see. E. The day came for us to leave the we-gi-wa and go back home.

Read the following passage. What might Nathan do?

It was early November, and the first now of the winter was falling as we packed our few belongings and placed a blanket over Job's back for Pa to ride on. The dogs ran about excitedly, biting at the snow and sniffing the cold, moist air. Job pranced, his ears forward, eager to be off. Pa, looking big and healthy again, his cheeks red from the cold, snowflakes catching in his whiskers, stamped noisily about making last-minute preparations, and Molly, too, was flushed with the excitement of returning home.

But I didn't want to leave. I didn't want to leave Ezra, and besides, there was something bothering me. "Pa," I began, "Weasel's still got Crabapple. He's got your saddle , too. It's - it's not right. We should go get them back."

Check yes for a reasonable prediction. Check no for an unreasonable prediction.
