Captions are short descriptions next to a
picture in newspapers, textbooks, magazines, and other reading materials. They
help the reader relate to the picture and the story.
A good caption might give additional
information about a story, but it must always relate to the picture.
After looking at the drawings from the pages
indicated in each problem below, choose the best caption for each.
1. page 2
- The witches of the Forest of Wonder conjure a dragon potion.
- The number of dragons in Europe is increasing.
- Dragonslayers help keep dragons under control.
- The number of witches conjuring evil potions is on the rise.

- Girls should be allowed to go off on adventures the same as boys.
- The page boys are amused by the princess.
- Well-mannered princesses are expected to embroider.
- Princess Wilhelmina throws a temper tantrum, because she is not
