When an Accident Occurs

If you are at home
go to the basement. If your home does not have a basement go to an inside room on the lowest floor. A bathroom or closet is acceptable. Wrap yourself in blankets to protect yourself from flying debris.

go to an interior room or hallway on the lowest floor. Stay away from glass or areas with wide-span roofs such as auditoriums. Crouch down and cover your head.

If you are in a high-rise building
go to interior small rooms or halls. Stay away from glass.

If you are in a car or mobile home
leave them and go to a sturdy structure.

If you are outside without a building nearby
lie flat in the nearest ditch or depression. Use your hands to cover your head.
