When My Computer opens, select the location of your flash or disk by double clicking on the icon for it.
After your disk or flash has opened up, right click on any white area of the page.
Select "New" and then "Folder"
Name your folder by simple typing a short name.
If you wish this folder to added to a server, choose a name with no capitals or spaces such as "millerpages."
STEP 2 Color
Pick a color scheme for your website and stick to it.
Websets
Look through the following pages. If you find a template on the MCE website you may download it from the Internet by selecting the down arrow next to the pencil icon on your toolbar. Then choose the blue square with a white arrow inside. The page will open in FrontPage where you can edit it and save to your flash.
If you don't see one you like, here are some websites with page designs. Many have the pages zipped. Ask me for help.

Directions for Choosing Colors (page 145 in Getting Started with Microsoft FrontPage 98)
Choose
Open up FrontPage Explorer. You will see a split screen. The top half is aqua and the bottom half is white. Double click on one of the pages in the bottom white box. It does not matter if it is "favorite.htm", "index.htm, or one of the others.
A new part of the program called FrontPage Editor will open up with the page you selected. Delete all the words on the page. Your page will have a white background with a tan checked pattern. To get rid of this click:
Format
Theme
Select "This page does not use themes."
You now have a blank white page ready to work with.
To add colors to this blank page, select "Format."
Background
This box will appear.

Click the arrow down next to each color, and choose "Custom" at the bottom of the list.
The following box will pop up. Click on the color you wish. You may lighten or darken the color on the right.
Click the button "Add to Custom Colors."
Click "OK"

Select all five colors by repeating these steps. When finished click "OK."Play around with your colors. Be sure you select a high degree of contrast between your background and text. Otherwise, your readers will in up with headaches.
Yellow on black is good contrast.
Black on white is good contrast.
Maroon on black is bad contrast.
Green on red is bad contrast.
STEP 3 Save Your Page
Select File
Save As
This box will pop up.
In the box called "title" give your page a general title such as Mr. Smith's Website.
Change the URL to "index.htm"
Click the small yellow folder with the magnifying glass. A new box will pop up. Find the place on your flash or disk where you made a folder.
Click the "Save" button.
The next time you make changes to this page you just click the "Save" icon which looks like a floppy disk on the task bar.
STEP 4 Font
A few fonts are relatively common to recent versions of the Windows and Mac operating systems.
I recommend that you use one of these fonts. Here again, select one and stick to it. It can make an interesting page to title it using one font then type everything else in a different font. More than this is confusing to the reader of your website.
STEP 5 Adding a Graphic
You may save clipart from the Internet by right clicking on the image you wish to save and placing it into the folder with the page you are working on.
If you have a large graphic you can just center it on your page. If you have a small graphic you will want to place text next to it. To do this you need a table.
Adding a table
Select "Table"
Insert
Table
This box will pop up.
Change the setting on you table to the ones above. Then click OK. You will see this.
Click in the side of the table you want your image to appear.
To add the image click "Insert."
Image
Choose the yellow folder with the magnifying glass.
Find the image you wish to add on your computer. Double click on the title of the image, and it will open in the table.
OR
You may use Microsoft Clipart by following these steps:
Insert

Double click the image you want on your page.
